#019: Matt Holder - 4 Ways to Love Yourself
“Showing love to yourself is critically important because it goes along with sustainability of a well balanced and healthy life.”
This is not something that is talked about often enough. It begins and ends in your personal world.
L - Leadership. Grow it.
O - Opportunity. Find it.
V - Vision. Create it.
E - Experience. Enjoy it.
The most passionate people win. Take charge and raise your hand. Leadership is nothing more than influence, it’s about your ability to influence others. How do you cultivate influence? Become a master of your craft. If you’re showing passion in what you’re doing, people will follow. Be intentional about getting into conversations with higher level thinkers. It may seem intimidating to ask successful people for help, but these top producers recognize talent and passion and are usually willing to help if you put yourself out there and ask.
Our job here is to find opportunity. I love this quote: “The harder I work the luckier I get.” This is true in finding and recognizing opportunity. Sure, some people might have an upper hand. No matter where you are on that spectrum, if you can show up everyday the opportunity will be developed and cultivated by your ability to seek it out. If you’re not growing yourself, you cannot grow other people. As your self leadership grows, your ability to identify opportunity is elevated.
Create it. As a leader this is one of the most important jobs. This is not just in your business, this is also in your personal life. Taking the time to dream is paramount as a leader. What could life look like in this area? In 5 years what does my dream day look like? You can create it. It’s all in those little steps we take everyday.
Enjoy it. It’s okay to be selfish and take care of yourself. I haven’t done this well but identifying areas you give a little too much in is important. You probably need other people in your world to tell you when you’re doing it. You can’t give what you don’t have. If the cup is empty you can’t pour anymore out. How are you pouring into yourself so you can pour into others?
You should be identifying opportunities everyday where you can have a great experience. Maybe it’s leaving the office early and enjoying the outdoors or going to a coffee shop.
